Saturday...June 13....a day that has been a couple of years in the planning. Charleston 2014, we tried to get together with Lindsey Wasser Schechtman and her girls ...but it didn't work. Kids get sick...life happens... When she saw on Facebook that we were in New Jersey...she leaped in...and even with weather delays and water pump issues...we managed to pull off a delightful catch up time. She and the girls arrived about 11:30...much to the delight of sweet Dakota (he is a lady's man)...we toured the boat, passed out TUMBLEWEED t-shirts, walked the dog,  had a delightful lunch at marina restaurant,played with the dog, learned to play Rummikub ...cried, laughed, hugged and solved world problems. Remembered what fun it was on Lincoln Court in "the day".  Captain Floyd was a charming host...but by 2:00, he was done in...It really was a GIRL day. Lindsey's daughters were charming and fun...not to mention well-behaved!!! Time seemed to fly...before we knew it the afternoon was turning to evening and time for them to go.

But here's the part that absolutely chokes me up...Lindsey's mom Marsha was my best buddy, neighbor and co-conspirator of orneriness ...While the other girls bear a striking resemblance, Lindsey is the spitting image of her mother ...Marsha's 3 girls and my 2 kids spent hours playing together..even attended the same elementary school....it was classic America family time......we had a path from our front door to theirs...Working moms with children and all those issues...We talked about it all...

When they moved to Colorado, I was beyond depressed...we saw each other when we could and wrote great letters ....unemployment, divorce, remarriage and illness happened...when she didn't survive the breast cancer battle, I was heart broken. I still think of her often...Keeping up with her girls on Facebook has been a true joy. ...

Today ...the day Lindsey and I are finally able to sit, talk, hug, and cry...was the twentieth anniversary of her death. Who believes in angels??? Special gifts from heaven??? Someone looking out for you???ME!!!!
