Our ride up the Potomac reminded us what being on the rivers was like...signs of pollution everywhere. Watching for logs and debris...staying in the channel. The waters were choppy at best and often so shallow we worried about scrapping bottom. The stop at Aquia Marina was a total bust. We were assigned a slip with no finger piers...pilings and an aft departure...that does not work for us as we have the dinghy mounted on the stern which makes us use side departures. If a couple from a slip close by hadn't come over to help with lines and electrical, we'd have been up a creek...there was no way for us to reach anything or depart to the pier. Then we discovered that there was only one 30 watt outlet for electrical...we can use one 50 amps or two 30s. That situation caused us some issues with the air conditioning on board that hot and steamy night. Since no one was manning the marina, we somehow managed. When the Captain called Monday to complain, they offered us a 50% discount on our next stay. NOT GONNA HAPPEN.
